Our nation is in a moment where I believe it is imperative  we continue the discussion of how we perceive one another.  I don’t believe we have met yet so I would like to share a little bit about myself and humanize this moment as an opportunity to demonstrate how working together in the most mundane aspects of our every day labor, offers us the chance to address how we work together and who we allow to work with us.  As our nation struggles to deal with so many challenges, I want to share a little bit of my story.

Culture Story with Cities

I’d like to tell the story that 17 years ago when I went to my first in-person RFP public meeting, I looked around and realized I was the only Latina woman in the room among very well groomed and tall older men. It did feel a little intimidating not because I did not look the part but because I was intent on creating a name that would be as respected as many of the individuals I looked up to in that room. I started this firm 11 years ago with a computer, a phone, some software but mostly with the incredible hope for the future.

It was my MBA team that inspired me to take a chance on myself. For that I am forever grateful. More interestingly it was my friend who was a city finance manager and from my MBA team that gave me our first opportunity to work with her and to develop this fiduciary process within the municipal structure with its many variety of challenges. In turn our work ended up saving participants hundreds of thousands of dollars at a growing rate annually and provided a platform to share this success with other cities and districts. We were fiduciaries before the term was popular. I formed this firm during the great recession.

Today I am proud to say we have grown and developed a niche with cities and government agencies as their fiduciary on 457 and 401a plans. We have worked with over 25 cities and districts and we are so very grateful for the great clients we work with and for providing small businesses a chance to shine and prove their worth among the giants.
